Question
Chapter 16, Problem 88IAE
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
From the given set of solutions, the suitable one to prepare a 100.0 mL sample of solution of pH value 5.50 due to addition of solute in water at pH 7.00 needs to be determined.
Concept introduction:
The pH of the solution used to measure the molar concentration of hydrogen ion in the solution and it is the measure of basicity or acidity of a solution. For any solution, if pH is less than 7 then it is acidic, pH equal to 7 is neutral and solution having pH greater than 7 is basic. In an acidic solution, the concentration of hydrogen ion is greater than hydroxide ion.
