Yes, I agree with US track and field (USTAF’s) decision to disqualify Jennifer Goebel because of the fact that she did not follow the rules by using an iPod during the race.

Competitive advantage:

• An iPod could give a runner a competitive advantage by allowing user to listen to some kind of music that may boost their performance.
• In some cases it may help the athlete to avoid external distractions.

Banning of headphone:

No, I do not think Goebel knew about the headphone ban issue. The athlete should have been informed about the regulation banning the use of headphones by her coach.
