Chapter 17, Problem 13RQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
The structure that controls the release of hormones from the anterior pituitary gland.
Introduction:
The pituitary gland has two lobes: the anterior lobe, also known as adenohypophysis that has three sub-parts and the posterior lobe that has two subparts. The anterior lobe secretes tropic hormones which are of four different types such as the thyroid-stimulating hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone as well as luteinizing hormone. These hormones influence the secretion of other endocrine glands.
