Expert Solution & Answer
Explanation of Solution
Definition of pension plan: This is the plan devised by corporations to pay the employees an income after their retirement, in the form of pension. The earnings which are set aside during the employee tenure are accumulated and invested, are paid to employees as a replacement of wages, to meet the retirement needs.
The following are the reasons which motivate corporations to offer pension plan to employees:
- Employees feel satiated with the retirement benefits provided by their employers. This feeling fulfils employers’ moral obligation.
- Employees not only feel secured due to retirement plans, but also develop a dedication in accomplishing company’s mission as their responsibility. Employers also feel satisfied with the low employee turnover and accomplishment of company’s objectives.
- Sometimes employers introduce pension plans to favor the labor unions and be competent in labor market.
