To explain: The encephalitis is often difficult to diagnose.
Introduction:
Encephalitis is defined by inflammation of brain parenchyma, and it is caused by viral infection. Encephalitis can be acute which is transmitted by arthropods (arbovirus), and sub-acute which is caused by protozoan infection or prions.
Explanation of Solution
It is difficult to diagnose encephalitis on the basis of their symptoms as the disease meningitis or brain tumor is also having the same symptoms similar to the encephalitis.
Encephalitis is characterized by acute inflammation in parenchyma of brain, and meningitis is characterized by the inflammation of arachnoids membrane surrounding the spinal cord and brain.
Encephalitis and meningitis are characterized by swelling in brain, and thus are difficult to diagnose.
