Systems development life cycle (SDLC):

• It is an overall process for developing information systems.
• It contains a series of planned activities for developing software products.
• It denotes foundation for all systems development methods and many activities are associated with each phase.
• The activities includes:
  • Determining budgets.
  • Gathering system requirements.
  • Detailed user documentation.
• The SDLC initiates with a business need, it proceeds to satisfy that need and ends when system benefits would not at all be significant than maintenance cost.
• The SDLC is comprised of seven phases that includes:
  • Planning
  • Analysis
  • Design
  • Development
  • Testing
  • Implementation
  • Maintenance

Explanation of Solution

Most Critical Phase in SDLC:

• All phases are important to build a social networking website, but the most critical phase in the System development life cycle is the maintenance phase.
• During this phase, the organization performs corrections, changes and up gradations to ensure that system meets requirements.
• Corrective maintenance would make system changes to flaws in design, errors in coding or issues in implementation.
• Preventive maintenance would make system changes to reduce chances for system failure in future.
• In this phase, the social network will grow, develop, attract users, and evolve depending on what the users prefer.
• The success of the social network will be decided in this phase.
