Concept introduction:

Transcription is the process in which the nucleotide sequences of a gene are transcribed into mRNA sequences that code for proteins. It initiates through binding of the RNA polymerase enzyme at the promoter region (beginning of gene). In eukaryotes, first transcription factors bind to the TATA box in the promoter region and then RNA polymerase binds to transcription factors.
