Question
Chapter 17.2, Problem 6COQ
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The way in which chromatin immunoprecipitation is used to determine the locations of histone modifications in the genome.
Introduction:
Histone modifications occur through post-translational modification of residues of amino acids like serine, tyrosine, lysine, and arginine present in the histone tail. The histone protein’s tail is modified by adding or removing phosphate, acetyl or methyl groups. Histone modification also occurs through ubiquitination in which small ubiquitin molecules are added or removed from the molecule of histone.
