To determine:
The concentration of which mineral is decreased after the removal of the parathyroid glands.
Concept introduction:
The parathyroid gland secretes the parathyroid hormone. It regulates the homeostasis of calcium mineral absorption in the body including the kidney and bones. The increase in the concentration of parathyroid hormone in the blood causes the increase in the concentration of calcium, due to its release from the bone cells namely osteoclasts and osteoblasts. The bone mineralization process is increased after the release of parathyroid hormone in the body.
