Chapter 18, Problem 5MC
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Attenuated vaccines are the vaccines that are generated using live weakened pathogens that elicit an immune response in the recipient’s body. The attenuated pathogen causes a weak infection in the recipient’s body, which cannot be usually detected. It induces an immune response in the recipient’s body and imparts active immunity. Attenuated vaccines provide a long-term immunity. Attenuated microorganisms are generated by growing them under diverse conditions due to which mutations are accumulated, which make them less pathogenic.
