To write:
About what happens to the population of protists in an area if it experiences above-average rainfall.
Introduction:
Organisms belonging to the Kingdom Protista are eukaryotes. A eukaryotic organism or a eukaryotic cell is characterized by the presence of membrane-bound organelles and the presence of the 80S ribosome. Although these organisms are eukaryotes, they are not considered as
Explanation of Solution
Protists are further classified into three types; animal-like, fungi-like, and plant-like protists, based on the mode of nutrient intake. The animal-like protists are also known as protozoans, plant-like protists as algae, and fungi-like protists as molds.
Protists generally live in moist and damp regions like oceans, decaying leaves, streams, and ponds. This suggests that protists require a moist environment to live and flourish. In a region that experiences more than average rainfall, the moisture content will increase in that region. An increase in moisture content will help protists to flourish more easily and thus their population will increase.
The population of protists will increase in a region that experiences more than average rainfall.
