Artherosclerosis occurs as a result of accumulation of fatty substances in the lining of the arteries of the body. This leads to a blockage of the arteries which causes obstruction in the blood flow. Coronary artery disease is the phenomenon of narrowing of coronary arteries which results in the blockage of blood flow within the arteries.
