The blood type of an individual is based on the kind of antigen present on the red blood cell (RBC). As blood type is controlled by three alleles, namely, A, B, and AB, these can correspond to their respective blood types. There is another condition wherein there is no antigen present on the surface of the RBC; in this case, the blood group is type O.
