To determine:
The labeling of skeletal muscle fiber.
Introduction:
Muscle fibers are also termed as muscle cells. The process of formation of muscle fibers is termed as myogenesis. These cells are generally multinucleated and they also have many mitochondria to meet the energy requirements. Moreover, many myofibrils unite to form a muscle fiber.
Explanation of Solution
The figure is labeled as shown below:
1. Fascicle - Fascicle is a bundle of muscle fibers.
2. Sarcoplasmic reticulum - Sarcoplasmic reticulum is a membrane bound cell-organelle that is found in the muscle cells. Its function is to store calcium ions.
3. Tendon - Tendon is a fibrous connective tissue that joins muscles and bones. Its function is to make the bones movable.
4. Perimysium - Perimysium is sheet of connective tissue that surrounds the muscle fibers.
5. Nucleus − Nucleus is a membrane-bound organelle found in all eukaryotic cells. Muscle cells are multinucleated in nature.
The labeling of the figure is as follows:
1. Fascicle
2. Sarcoplasmic reticulum
3. Tendon
4. Perimysium
5. Nucleus
