Concept explainers
To describe: The way in which foraminiferans and radiolarians are identified and differentiated from one another and the features that two groups in each pair share.
Introduction: Microorganisms and other living organisms are classified as prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Eukaryotes are organisms or cells that possess a nucleus within the membrane. Eukaryotes are mostly placed in eight major clades that started to diversify about 1.5 billion years ago including stramenopile, excavates, rhizarians, ameobozoans, fungi, plants, and animals.
To explain: The way in which ciliates and dinoflagellates are recognized and differentiated from one another and the features that the two groups in each pair share.
To define: The way in which diatoms and brown algae are recognized and differentiated from one another and the features that the two groups in each pair share.
