Chapter 19.7, Problem 3LO
Summary Introduction
To determine: The role of extracellular matrix in cellular migration.
Introduction: An extracellular matrix is a fluid-like substance that is present in the exterior of the cells of the body. It functions to provide a biochemical environment and structural support to the surrounding cells. The composition of the extracellular matrix is different from the cytoplasm, and the difference in the ion concentration between these two fluids provides a means for concentration gradient.
