Chapter 2, Problem 11RQ
Summary Introduction

To review:

The abundance of various organelles in the following cells:

The adrenal gland cells that make steroid hormone, the white blood cells, the liver cells, the muscle cells, the mucous cells, the epithelial cells in the skin, and the kidney tubule cells.

Introduction:

The cellular organelles perform various functions that are necessary to sustain life. The abundance of organelles in cells vary from cell to cell depending upon their requirements. The function of some organelles is regulated in a chain form such as the nucleus, the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi apparatus, and the vesicles perform in a series. The other organelles perform functions independently in the cytoplasm.

Different organelles are abundant in different cell types. Match the cell types with their abundant organelles by placing the correct letter from column B into each blank in column A. Follow the hints provided in parentheses.Column A                                                                                      Column B(1) cell in the adrenal gland that makes steroid hormones                                                                                              (a) mitochondria(2) white blood cell (phagocytic)                                           (b) smooth ER(3) liver cell (detoxifies poisons)                                            (c) peroxisomes(4) muscle cell (highly contractile)                                      (d) microfilaments(5) mucous cell (secretes protein product)                                                                                              (e) rough ER(6) epithelial cell in the outer layer of skin (withstands tension)…
During a microscopy exercise in the anatomy laboratory,a student makes the following observations about a tissuesection: (1) The section contains some different types ofscattered protein fibers—that is, they exhibit differentwidths, some are branched, some are long and unbranched, and their staining characteristics differ (some are seenonly with specific stains). (2) Several cell types withdifferent morphologies are scattered throughout the section, but these cells are not grouped tightly together. (3) Theexamined section has some “open spaces”—that is, placesbetween cells and the observed fibers in the section thatappear clear with no recognizable features. What type oftissue is the student observing? Where might this tissue befound in the body?
Make a tabulation of the following cell organelles with their functions,   one disorder  related to it with added description; and  reference/s.
