Bit:
The bit is the smallest unit of information that the computer can understand. The computer contains the data and it can be represented in the form of binary bits (0’s and 1’s). The word bit is the contraction of two words binary digit.
- It is represented physically as the two-state device and the binary digit can have either of one values.
- It’s nothing more than the reference of the state “on” or “off”, “high” or “low”.
- The logical values (true/false), algebraic signs (+/-) can be interpreted using the two value of the binary digits.
- A group of 8 bits is called as a byte.
