(Science: wind-chill temperature) How cold is it outside? The temperature alone is not enough to provide the answer. Other factors including wind speed, relative humidity, and sunshine play important roles in determining coldness outside. In 2001, the National Weather Service (NWS) implemented the new wind-chill temperature to measure the coldness using temperature and wind speed. The formula is
twc = 35.74 + 0.6215ta − 35.75v0.16 + 0.4275tav0.16
where ta is the outside temperature measured in degrees Fahrenheit, v is the speed measured in miles per hour, and twc is the wind-chill temperature. The formula cannot be used for wind speeds below 2 mph or temperatures below −58°F or above 41 °F.

- (Algebra: solve 2 x 2 linear equations) You can use Cramer's rule to solve the following 2 x 2 system of linear equation: ax + by = e ed – bf af- ec ad - bc cx + dy = f ad – bc y = Write a program that prompts the user to enter a and f and display the result. If ad - bc is 0 b, c, d , e, , report that The equation has no solution.arrow_forward(Financial application: find the profit-per-item) You have just started a new stationary shop. Your profit-per-item depends on the total quantity of item sold. The scheme shown below is used to determine the total profit: Quantity Profit-per-item 0-1000 $1 1001-5000 $2 5001 and above $5 Note that this is a graduated profit. The profit for selling up to 1000 items is $1, for next 4000 items is $2 and beyond that is $5. If the total quantity of item sold is 10000, the profit is 1000 * $1 + 4000 * $2 + 5000 * $5 = $34000. Your goal is to make $50,000 a year. Write a program that uses a do-while loop to find out the minimum quantity of item you have to sell in order to make $50,000.arrow_forward(Yes/No): Is it possible for both the Sign and Zero flags to be set at the same time?arrow_forward
- (Area and perimeter of a circle) Write a program that displays the area and perimeterof a circle that has a radius of 6.5 using the following formula:π = 3.14159perimeter = 2 x radius x πarea = radius x radius x πarrow_forward(Mechanics) The deflection at any point along the centerline of a cantilevered beam, such as the one used for a balcony (see Figure 5.15), when a load is distributed evenly along the beam is given by this formula: d=wx224EI(x2+6l24lx) d is the deflection at location x (ft). xisthedistancefromthesecuredend( ft).wistheweightplacedattheendofthebeam( lbs/ft).listhebeamlength( ft). For the beam shown in Figure 5.15, the second moment of inertia is determined as follows: l=bh312 b is the beam’s base. h is the beam’s height. Using these formulas, write, compile, and run a C++ program that determines and displays a table of the deflection for a cantilevered pine beam at half-foot increments along its length, using the following data: w=200lbs/ftl=3ftE=187.2106lb/ft2b=.2fth=.3ftarrow_forwardFind the error(s) in the following code: (6)arrow_forward
- (Limitations of Floating-Point Numbers for Monetary Amounts) Section 4.6 cautionedabout using floating-point values for monetary calculations. Try this experiment: Create a floatvariable with the value 1000000.00. Next add to that variable the literal float value 0.12f. Displaythe result using printf and the conversion specifier "%.2f". For example, 17 is a prime and 71 is a prime, so 17 and 71 are both emirps. Write a Java program that displays the first 100 emirps. Display 10 numbers per line with a spacing of 5; all numbers should be left-aligned.arrow_forward
