Introduction:
The uncontrolled growth and division of cells is termed as Cancer. A proto oncogene is a normal gene which regulates the growth and division of normal cells. These proto-oncogenes can become oncogenes by undergoing mutation. Generally, these proto-oncogenes are responsible for carrying mitogenic signals and signal transduction. Upon activation due to increased gene expression or mutation, a proto-oncogene is converted into an oncogene or a tumor inducing agent which is carcinogenic in nature.
