Chapter 2, Problem 5P
Summary Introduction

To examine: Whether the statement, “Linking the energetically unfavorable reaction A→ B to a second, favorable reaction B → C will shift the equilibrium constant for the first reaction.” is true or false.

Concept introduction:

Chemical thermodynamics represents a heat non spontaneous reaction where the energy is absorbed and standard free energy change is positive known as unfavorable reaction. In an energetically favorable reaction the change in free energy is negative that indicates the spontaneous reaction.  In a metabolic reaction has to couple with another reaction in which one is energetically favorable and another is energetically unfavorable. In a chemical reaction equilibrium constant is preceded by the product concentration with ten times of the concentration of substrate. A spontaneous relationship exists in between the standard free energy change of a reaction ΔG° and its equilibrium constant.
