Summary Introduction

To predict: The molecular formula of the compound hydrogen sulfide.

Introduction: Every element hasthe smallest unit of matter that retains the properties of an element. This smallest unit is called an atom. There are three subatomic particles of an atom. These are electrons, protons, and neutrons. Protons and neutrons are present in the central part of an atom called the nucleus. Electrons revolve around nucleus in different electronic shells. The electrons present in the outermost shell are called as valence electrons. The valence electron takes part in chemical bond formation to get stability. Sulfur has 16 atomic numbers and has 6 valance electrons. Hydrogen has one electron. Sulfur takes part in bond formation to acquire eight electronsin the outermost shell, and hydrogen takes part in bond formation to fulfill two electrons in their orbit.
