Chapter 2, Problem 9TYPSS
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

The condition, in which the potential energy of the product is greater than that of the reactants, it requires the energy for the completion of the reaction and the formation of the product. These reactions are known as the endothermic reactions.

In case, the potential energy of the product is less than that of the reactant, then the reaction does not require any external energy, and the formation of the product, in this case, releases the energy. This is known as an exothermic reaction.

A chemical reaction has a △G of -14 kcal/mol. Adding an enzyme has been shown to increase the reaction 10-fold. What would be the △G of the reaction when that enzyme is added?   A) -1.4 kcal/mol B) -14 kcal/mol C) +14 kcal/mol D) -140 kcal/mol
Some cool enzyme (CE) catalyzes the conversion of compound F to compound A. Which of the following must be true of CE? a) CE can facilitate conversion of compound A into compound F. b) CE binds more tightly to the substrate F than to the product A. c) CE decreases the energy of the transition state between compounds F and A. d) CE facilitates net conversion of F to A whenever F is present.
Which of the following is true for all exergonic reactions? Group of answer choices A. The reactions are nonspontaneous B. A net input of energy from the surroundings is required for the           reactions to proceed C. Some reactants will be converted to products D. The products have more total energy than the reactants E. The reaction proceeds with a net release of free energy
