Introduction:
Red blood cells (RBCs) or erythrocytes are biconcave shaped cells, which contain hemoglobin for oxygen transport from lungs to different tissues. These cells lack a nucleus, mitochondria, ribosomes, and other organelles. RBCs are produced in red bone marrow and each RBC has a life span of 120 days.
