Summary Introduction

To determine:

The layer of the artery that thickens in atherosclerosis.

Introduction:

The hardening and narrowing of arteries is known as atherosclerosis in which the blood flow is blocked within the arteries. This results in cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. The blockage in the arteries is caused by the growth of plaque. The plaque can result in the deposition of fat and cholesterol in the lumen of the arteries.
