Chapter 20, Problem 3RC
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Red blood cells (RBCs) or erythrocytes are biconcave-shaped cells, which contain hemoglobin for oxygen transport. These cells lack a nucleus, mitochondria, ribosomes, and other organelles. They transport oxygen from lungs to tissues as well as carbon dioxide from tissues to lungs. RBCs are produced in red bone marrow and have a 120-day long lifespan.
