Summary Introduction
To determine:
The factors responsible for facilitating the production of disease by Bordetella pertussis
Introduction:
The anaerobic Bordetella pertussis is a Gram-negative bacterium of the shape that is intermediate between roundly and rod-like. It causes a disease called pertussis, also known as whooping cough, by disrupting the working of “ciliated epithelial” cells found in the trachea. The disease is imparted with the help of some toxins and molecules for adhesion and is generally diagnosed in very young children up to 5 years of age, by observing symptoms of a cough.
