The function of the SA (sinoatrial) node and the difference in its function from the AV (atrioventricular) node.
Introduction:
The SA node of the heart is the natural pacemaker. It sends out electrical impulses from the atrium, which results in its contraction. The contraction of the atrium then leads to the pumping of the blood to the lower chamber of the heart, that is, the ventricle. The AV node has the smaller cells that conduct these impulses to the ventricle via a junction box.
