Schistosoma is commonly known as blood fluke, and they belong to the genus trematodes. Schistosoma is a parasitic flatworm which is responsible for a disease called Schistosomiasis or Bilharzia. Schistosomiasis is a chronic and acute parasitic disease which occurs during routine agricultural, occupational, domestic and recreational activity which exposes an individual to infested water.
