Chapter 21, Problem 3WWTS
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
A group of signaling molecules is called an interferon. The host cell protects itself from pathogenic microorganisms or foreign invaders by secreting certain chemicals. Interferon belongs to proteins called cytokines. It is used to communicate between the cells, to induce an immune response against the foreign invaders. There are more than twenty interferons that are identified so far.
