Chapter 21, Problem 4TY
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Sperm refers to the haploid sex cell that is responsible for fusion with ovum and fertilizes it. Sperm cells contain four parts. These are head, neck, midpiece, and flagellum or tail. Head contains acrosome, the neck has one typical and one atypical centriole, the central filamentous core is known as midpiece, and the last part is a type of cilium, which is called tail that provides the movement of sperm. Sperms of animals generated from the cell called spermatozoa by the process called spermatogenesis. Spermatogenesis takes place within the male gonad called testicles.
