Concept explainers
To discuss:
Structure and function of lymph nodes; the significance of lymph nodes having both afferent and efferent lymphatic vessels, unlike any other lymphatic organs; the approximate number of lymph nodes and seven regions in which they are especially concentrated; and the meaning of lymphadenitis and lymphadenopathy.
Introduction:
The lymphatic system that consists of a group of cells or immune cells that inhabit in all the organs of the body. The lymphatic system includes lymphatic organs and group of lymphatic tissues involved in the immune system. The lymphatic organs include spleen, tonsils, thymus, lymph nodes, and red bone marrow. Spleen and red bone marrow are primary lymphatic organs, whereas secondary lymphatic organs include lymph nodes, tonsils, and thymus.
