Chordates are the vertebrate animals, except tunicates, lancelets, and hagfishes. Chordates are the member of group eumetazoans characterized by bilateral symmetry and true tissue organization. They are included under the clade deuterostomes along with echinoderms. Chordates include the fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
