Introduction:
The thyroid hormones are secreted by the endocrine glands named as the Thyroid Glands that are butterfly shaped and are present in the base of the neck. Thyroid hormones are responsible for normal development and growth in humans. Thyroid hormones also play an important role in the functioning of certain tissues mainly the nervous tissues.
The thyroid hormone is released in two different forms:
T4: 3,5,3’,5’- tetraiodothyronine is the most abundantly found form of thyroid hormone.
T3: 3,5,3’- triiodothyronine is the thyroid hormone found in the most active form.
