Chapter 22, Problem 13TYK
Summary Introduction

To review:

The possibility, whether the process of artificial selection for different breeds of dogss can result in the creation different species of dogs or not.

Introduction:

Artificial selection or selective breeding involves animal breeding and plant breeding by humans. Different species are mated artificially and then certain characteristics are chosen by humans, in order to develop a particular phenotypic trait. The two purebred animals from different species produce a crossbreed, which, in the case of plants, is called a hybrid.

Systematics and Evolution Would natural selection work better on a large population or a small population? ( Consider the effects of genetic drift )
Write an explanation for how the process of evolution primarily results from competition for limited resources (such as water, shelter and mates) and differences in the abilities of individuals in a population to survive and reproduce in that environment.
Grizzly bears and polar bears are very closely related, so much so that they can reproduce to form hybrid offspring. Use your understanding of natural selection to describe how polar bears became a separate classification from the grizzly. Then describe how grizzly and polar bear evolution may be affected by climate change.
