Sinusoids are also referred to as the discontinuous capillaries. They are similar to the fenestrated capillaries, which have irregular and flattened shape. The sinusoid also consists of gaps between the endothelial cells. They may or may not have a basil lamina. This leads to an easy exchange of solute substances and water between the interstitial fluid and the blood.
