Chapter 22.1, Problem 1AWYK
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The difference between lymphatic capillary and blood capillary and also explain the ways by which their structural difference is related to a functional difference.
Introduction:
The lymphatic system helps to maintain the body's fluid balance, and provide a defense to immune cells. A lymphatic system is made up of four components: Lymph, Lymphatic vessel, Lymphatic tissue, and lymphatic organs.

Contrast the structure of a lymphatic capillary with that ofa continuous blood capillary. Explain why their structuraldifference is related to their functional difference.
With reference to their structures, compare mature erythrocytes to vigorously exercising muscle with reference to meeting their energy (ATP) needs. Explain why they use the stated method/s.
Even though the lymphatic system is a component of the circulatory system, why is the term circulation not the most appropriate term to describe the flow of lymph?
How would you describe the flow?
Explain how lymph is formed. What would be the impact on lymph formation if the osmotic force at the venous end of the capillary was more successful at recovering fluid lost at the arterial end?
