Concept introduction: Primates are mammals that lead an arboreal mode of life except for humans who lead a terrestrial mode of life. They evolved during the Cenozoic era. The primate evolution began from Africa and there are several excavated evidences to support this theory. Ancestors of human beings evolved from the primates, migrated out of Africa and established colonies in other land masses. The most advanced placental mammals are the primates. The primates are the only group of mammals that can extensively use their forelimbs for purposes other than locomotion.
