In a seed, food is stored in thick, fleshy leaves called cotyledons. On the basis of cotyledons trees are of two types called monocotyledonous and the dicotyledonous plants. Monocotyledonous plants are those plants that have one cotyledon in their seeds like mango, lemons and many others. Dicotyledonous plants are those plants that have two cotyledons in their seeds like pea plant, groundnut plant and many others.
