The integrated steps involved in the external respiration.
Concept introduction:
The external respiration refers to the gas exchange that takes place between the lungs and the external environment. The gases from atmosphere reach the lungs where oxygen diffuses from the alveolar surface into the blood capillaries. The blood capillaries carry them to each and every cell. The cells then utilize the oxygen in aerobic respiration to generate the energy. The carbon dioxide diffuses out of blood capillaries into the lungs and from lungs to outside the body.
