The relative dating.
Answer to Problem 1RCQ
The relative dating is defined as the ordering of rocks in sequence by their comparative ages.
Explanation of Solution
The relative dating is the science of determining the relative order of the past events of the rocks without determining their present age. The relative dating is used to arrange the order of the rocks. The relative dating of the rocks does not give information of the actual time of formation of a layer it is the ordering of rocks in sequence by their comparative ages.
The relative dating has six principles to describe the relative age of past events. The six principles are- principle of superposition, principle of original horizontally, principle of lateral continuity, principle of cross cutting, principle of inclusion and principle of fossil succession.
