Chapter 23, Problem 1SA
Summary Introduction

To determine:

The reason that insects and animal reservoirs increase the difficulty of preventing and controlling parasitic infections in humans

Introduction:

Animal reservoirs are the disease in which animals work as a host for parasites and then spread infection in humans. Insect reservoirs are in which parasites make the insect as their host and then spread the infection. It is not easy to control them because animals and insects are everywhere and they come in contact with humans also. This type of disease is called zoonotic disease and it is very difficult to get rid of this disease.

Why are diseases transmitted by insect vectors more common in the summer than in the winter?
What is the difference between a prophylactic and a treatment? Which do you think is more likely to transform the impact of parasitic diseases globally?
Parasitism is a symbiotic relationship, where the parasite (symbiont) obtains nutrients from its host. 1) Contrast endoparasitism and ectoparasitism.  2) Describe one invertebrate endoparasite you find interesting and identify its definitive host (and any intermediate hosts). 3) Describe one invertebrate ectoparasite you find interesting and identify its definitive host (and any intermediate hosts).
