Sales in Income statements:

  • Income statements are financial records of the results of an entity’s operations during a particular reporting period. They record the revenues from sale of goods and services and expenses in the form of direct costs and indirect costs.

  • Direct costs comprise of material, labor and overheads and indirect costs such as selling and distribution expenses. The difference between the Revenues and expenses is the Profit or Loss from operations. This is carried forward to the Balance Sheet.

  • Sales revenue is the collection of revenues from sales of goods and services sold during the reporting period. The figure of sales in the Income statement are a sum total of the revenues from operations of all the business lines and products that a company sells.
