Concept explainers
To determine: The summary of the effect of histamine, interleukin-1, acute-phase proteins, bradykinin, complement, and interferon-γ.
Introduction: The non-specific defense of the body is termed as innate immunity. Inflammation is the chief reaction of this immunity. The response, due to inflammation, is generated when activated macrophages of the tissue release cytokines. Various chemicals are involved in the response generated by innate immunity.
To determine: Whether histamine, interleukin-1, acute-phase proteins, bradykinin, complement, and interferon-γ are antagonistic or synergistic to one another.
Introduction: The body generates an immune response when a pathogen or any foreign material enters the body. Any pathogen that passes through the first line of defense consists of physical and chemical barriers. In case the first line of defense fails, the pathogen is attacked by the internal immune response consisting of the specific and non-specific immune responses.
