Question
Chapter 24, Problem 23E
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
Whether magnetic properties can be used to determine if ammine complex of Ni (II) is octahedral [Ni(NH3)]2+ or tetrahedral [Ni(NH3)4]2+ needs to be explained.
Concept introduction:
The properties which are used to measure the magnet moment, strength and direction of its magnetism of molecule are defined as magnetic properties. The electron dipole moment of a molecule plays a very important role to define the magnetic property. A complex is paramagnetic, if the central metal contains unpaired electrons and it is diamagnetic, if all the eletrons are paired.
