Introduction: Oral cavity is also known as the mouth or the buccal cavity. It is lined by the mucosal membrane which secrets mucous, it is the opening of the alimentary canal. It serves three major functions which are breathing, digestion and communication. Breathing is done by nostrils mainly but in the case of common cold, sometimes breathing is also done through the oral cavity or mouth.
