Introduction:

If the pressure exerted by water increases inside the cell, it will result in the turgid cell. At this point, the water potential inside and outside of the cell is equal. If a cell is not turgid the water potential increases until the cell gain turgidity. If a plant loses its turgid property, it becomes wilted. Thus, turgor pressure helps in maintaining the turgidity in leaves. Turgor pressure depends on water movement inside and outside of the cell which is due to osmosis.
