The generation of new species is favored by the genetic drift, which is caused by an accumulation of non-passing characters in a part of the population. The genetic drift majorly occurs in the small population. The small population has individuals who will have different genotypic composition. The genetic drift gives the chance to the individuals having rare genotype to populate as compared to other individuals. In this way, the genetic drift happens in the small population.
