Concept introduction: Root hair is the hair-like outgrowth of a plant root that absorbs the water and minerals from the soil. The important function of the root hairs is the collection of water and mineral nutrients present in the soil and takes them through the roots to the rest of the body. The root hairs do not have chloroplast as it does not carry out photosynthesis.
