Dark-field microscopy is a technique of microscopy in which the unscattered beam of the light from the image is excluded and thus, the background around the specimen appears dark. It is used for viewing the live and unstained specimens. Dark-field microscopy allows the visualization of live wet mounts of Treponemes obtained from the lesions of syphilis.
